CutX is free software, provided as is, under the MIT licence.
These terms are deliberately short. CutX is a small open-source utility with no account, no payment and no service behind it, so there is little to govern. What follows is what the MIT licence already says, in plain language.
CutX is released under the MIT licence. You may use it, copy it, modify it and redistribute it, for any purpose, provided the licence notice stays with it. The full source is at github.com/helalrules7/cutx.
CutX is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. It moves files by asking the macOS Finder to move them; you remain responsible for what you cut and where you paste it, exactly as you would be using Finder directly. Undo (⌘Z) is Finder's own and works as it normally does.
To the extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, CutX, including loss of data. If that is not acceptable to you, do not use the software.
CutX sends nothing anywhere and makes no network connections. It keeps a few lists on your Mac — what you recently cut, what is on the shelf, your favourite folders, and the moves it has made — and every one of them can be cleared at any time. See the privacy policy.
CutX requires the macOS Accessibility permission to see the ⌘X and ⌘V keystrokes. You grant it, and you can revoke it at any time in System Settings, after which CutX does nothing. It requests no other permission.
Four bundled sound effects are used under the Pixabay Content License and credited in ATTRIBUTIONS.md. Everything else is original work under the MIT licence.
If you obtained CutX from the Mac App Store, Apple's standard licence terms also apply to that copy. The software is identical in function to the direct download, except that the App Store copy contains no donation link.
If these terms change, the change will appear here first and be noted in the release notes.
